Sensa laminate is German made. It is of good quality and will enhance any room, aesthetically, in which it is installed. It is affordable and straightforward to fit and has a ten year guarantee.
Laminate remains a trendy, effective alternative to fitting real wood floors. Nevertheless many consumers, having fitted laminate flooring have ended up being unhappy with it and are choosing to cover up it up with carpeting once again or opting to do away with it altogether.
The problem has been that poor quality laminate flooring which is widely available, the kind that was perhaps difficult to fit in the first place, has proven not to function properly or is disappointingly average in its overall look and feel.
My home is three-storey town house built in 2003. I try to maintain a finish of clean lines within, therefore replacing the aging carpet in bedrooms and in the study with laminate flooring seemed the best way to keep up the modern look without breaking the bank. And so, after doing my homework in regard to what is available from the bottom to the top end of the market; I was actively looking to see what was out there mid range. The answer was explained to me when I visited the showroom of Taylor Made Flooring Ltd, a Midlands based flooring company. Where owner Matthew Taylor, hence the name, spent much time explaining and presenting the qualities of the brands of laminate flooring and accessories available.
Taylor introduced to me the Sensa range of laminate flooring. Sensa flooring has a locking system called Sensaloc which makes the laminate planks easy and fast to install. The fold down technology, where you take the long side of each plank and angle while pushing the connection on the short side, locks in allowing the fitter to move on with the job relatively quickly. No extra tapping or specialist tools required. Taylor went on to explain that Sensa had a good reputation to uphold and verified much of that as detailed in the Sensa brochure: ‘The combination of superb designs, stylish finishes and top German engineering gives Sensa flooring products a perfect look and feel’.
Subsequently planks of Sensa Solido Elite 4V (Memphis) have been installed in my house and now make up the floors in two bedrooms and that of the study. And, after fitting in the three rooms at home, and living with it over the last few weeks, I can totally endorse that Sensa fulfills all of that which the manufacturer claims.
Additionally my fear that replacing the carpet in two of the top floor bedrooms with laminate would ‘up the decibels’ has proved to be unfounded. Of course, the surface noise in the room itself is louder, with soft pitter-pattering of feet fall and a bang and clash if someone drops something, nevertheless for those on lower floors there is not much difference in noise levels coming from the top as when the carpet was down; this is because of 10mm underlay fitted as standard.
The planks are textured and are not slippery. The feel to the feet is not cold. As with all laminates DO NOT WET WITH WATER as this will seep into the seams and will swell the edges of the boards. Surface dust can be swept away using a soft, long- handled brush, or duster/cloth.
Cost at Taylor Made Flooring Ltd is £9.57 per square metre.
Pack Price is £19.14 (8 per pack).
Each plank measures 1286 x 194 x 8mm and a pack of 8 covers a total of 1,996 square metres (21.48 sq.ft.).
Sensa Solido Elite is available in other colours/finishes.
