20 easy to follow knitting patterns of Animals including Meercats, Mice and Dogs. Dolls (includes multicultural choices) and Teddy Bears (including the classic bear pattern)
SP Knitted toys 3
Most of the yarns are Double Knit (DK) or 4-ply and are suitable for people working at all knitting levels. Many patterns suggest the inclusion of small parts like buttons and tiny beads, so many of the toys are not suitable for babies and young children
Published today (11 February), this new knitting craft book by Sandra Polley (from her Knitted Toys series) is rather generic in its print form and presentation, yet the patterns are better designed and more detailed than many similar representations appearing elsewhere. All the toys and creatures are kitted out with their own clothing and accessories, even the glove puppets have collars and their babies and cubs have little sleeping bags! Polley’s patterns are little characters in fact, and she has given each and every one a name, so the outcome borders on being rather twee. Twee is fine, but wonder if waist-coated Meercats is so-o-o early tenties now, that we’ve gotten a little tired of them. All the teddies and their outfits however, are perfect for a teddy bear enthusiast and other pattern making opportunities would really appeal to a toy collector
