Craft Book Review – Mini Knitted Ocean by author Sachiyo Ishii

Review of Mini Knitted Ocean is by guest reviewer and novice knitter, Kelly A from Pontyclun I’m a fairly novice knitter, most of my accomplishments come in the form of scarves, so it was really nice to have a go at something different with this book. I love the quality of the book, the various projects within and the quirky theme of the ocean. Whenever I start knitting I always forget how to cast on, so I’d hope I’d find simple instructions inside the book (because the projects are aimed at beginner, intermediate and advanced) but there were none so I headed over to youtube for a quick tutorial. I’d opted for a beginner project, the ‘clown fish’, but I wanted to make it spooky (because it’s Halloween!) so I opted for red, black and green wool. Once I’d cast on it didn’t take long for me to gather momentum for the project! I have never really followed a detailed set of knitting instructions before, so it was great to have a reference at the front of the book for all …

The Secretary – Ravensburger Puzzle Review

The Secretary” is a 500 piece premium puzzle. As you open the box you find the 500 pieces securely in a bag also an additional A4 picture of the puzzle picture, so you don’t need use the box with you to complete it. Also included is the artist’s biography and information about the Ravensburger Company. The picture is a drawing by Trevor Mitchell of a secretary busily at work in a 1960s office. Trevor Mitchell who after attending Art College in Bradford worked for an advertising agency in London in 1979. He then returned to his native Yorkshire where he went freelance. He illustrated greeting cards and found a market for his paintings among publishers of art prints and jigsaw puzzles. The Secretary drawing is a very detailed picture and the colours are vibrant. As an avid puzzler I would recommend this puzzle for beginners, young people or someone with little patience.  Starting with the frame and sorting the remaining pieces into colours this puzzle is fairly easy. The picture has clear lines to …

Jigsaw Puzzle Review of An Evening Walk by Ravensburger

“An Evening Walk” is a new 500 piece puzzle from Ravensburger. The puzzle depicts the beauty of Paris at dusk and an insight into Parisian life in the 1950’s. The scene shows an elegant lady walking a poodle through a street in Paris, passing a fruit/flower stall and bars strolling towards the Eiffel Tower. The scene is truly authentic and captures the charm of Paris in this era. I absolutely love the sky blue Citroen 2CV convertible, which truly captures the essence of 50’s Paris. You can rent Citroen 2CV’s for tours of Paris, one for the bucket list for sure. The scene was painted by Dominic Davison and much of his work includes a 2CV. Never one to turn down a free lunch, I certainly wasn’t going to turn down a free puzzle to both enjoy and review. I’ve always enjoyed doing a puzzle, it first started on a rainy day, my Mum would pull out a puzzle and we would work on it together. This has always stayed with me and I always …

Guest bloggers review new coconut flavoured water enhancers by Stur

Adele S from Surrey tells us ‘I like to relate to the reader so they know I’m being honest‘ so we like it very much when she blog writes for TSS Adele says: ‘After previously trying Stur products before, they have now launched their new Coconut flavoured range. In 3 flavours; Original Coconut, Coconut & Lime and Coconut & Pineapple. While the original coconut was a bit too intense for my taste, I absolutely love them with the hint of lime and pineapple. The taste of the coconut is overcome slightly by the added flavours and it’s a great addition to water! I’ve always loved the concept behind Stur and with 0g sugar and 0 calories, you can’t go wrong! The small bottles are so perfect for popping in your bag, with 20 servings in each bottle, it will keep you going a while! It certainly makes a change from drinking water and you don’t have to feel guilty about it’   Kirstie W from Sheffield tells us her thoughts about Stur’s new coconut flavours in her …

Ella Henderson Batiste collaboration

‘As a regular and long term user of Batiste Dry Shampoo, I was thrilled to receive the new ‘Sweet and Seductive’ fragrance in collaboration with Ella Henderson, the face of the new ‘Ready For It’ campaign. As much as I love Batiste, I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, however the fragrance certainly lives up to its name and I personally think it is my favourite out of the collection. I am trying to get out of the habit of washing my hair everyday and after spraying on my hair before bed, the next day I received numerous compliments about how nice my hair was smelling and how good it looked. I found it gave my hair a lot of volume and without any chase of grease, allowing me to skip washing it for two days. ‘Sweet and Seductive’ was also a hit with my daughter and step-daughters who are big Ella Henderson fans. We will definitely be stocking up – well done Batiste!’ A product review by Guest Blogger Amy …

Femfresh Pocket Wipes – Festival Themed packs

A short, but concise review of Limited Edition FEMFRESH pocket wipes   I was a first time user of the Femfresh wipes but I’ll definitely be purchasing them again. The pack is a handy size and the floral design meant that they looked just like a pack of pocket tissues when I popped them in my bag. My daughter has been using wipes to freshen up since she started her periods a few months back and promptly took a pack for her school bag to take to summer camp. They are perfect for the summer heat and although I am highly sensitive to anything on my skin after using I was left feeling refreshed without any irritation. Consider me converted!  By Guest Blogger Amy W from Wales. Femfresh pocket wipes – Festival  addition are available now at Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and chemists nationwide. All products are dermatologically and gynaecologically tested
