Guide to Roman Blind making

Choosing the Made to Measure services of department stores, specialist makers and web retailers to make and supply your window dressings can be really expensive. Friends recently requested a shop buying quote for two sets of curtains, lined, with eyelets designed to fit a couple of average sized windows in their home and were quoted over 2000 GBP. By shopping around, and choosing a lower priced fabric per mete-rage they were able to order to specification at a cost of 800 GBP. But still, a costly outlay. We can see why, there is no quick way round the process, and to do it all properly is really a labour of love. If you have an understanding of stitching work, and a sewing machine and some sewing essentials to hand, and a few free hours over a couple days to work at the making, then you can save a lot of money. This week we made two Roman Blinds showcased in the photography using Laura Ashley fabrics. The fabric was recently selling at a 50% discount, …

Featuring Dulux Matt Emulsion Paint – Denim Drift

Whether you are convinced or not that depending on the colour of your painted walls can either help or hinder the way you feel when you are inhabiting that space within them, then perhaps it is worthwhile to consider putting blue shades back in the home. Not for curious and experimental reasons but because blue is (depending of the shade of course) everybody’s colour! There’s no disputing that the subtle duck egg shades have been popular for a while in interior design and home furnishings. Denim Drift is a versatile grey-blue shade and when twinned with deep and dark blues for example we think it can scream for attention in its own special way. Dulux revealed earlier in the year that Denim Drift is their colour favourite for 2017.  See how the Denim Drift shade balances and unifies the use of strong blue colour in the pic below Denim Drift Retail and Trade Paints Retailers such as B&Q retail 2.5 litre pots of Denim Drift. This matt emulsion version can be used in all …

Blog Feature : Mask-arade Party Masks

I was in contact recently with Joe Alsop from the original party mask company Mask-arade. Joe is a long established contact of mine from my early blogging activities of 2011 when TSS first reviewed their novelty product http://wp.me/p1JXg7-7E The artwork I created today to showcase Mask-arade’s funny dressing-up masks of President Trump and the First Lady will make you smile. I still find it amusing when I see everyday people wearing the faces of celebrities while doing everyday kinda things, I think the artwork conveys the fact. from Debra (Dee) TSS ed. Last year at tssreviews

I sailed through 2016 blogging away quite happily. I have a new blog too http://illustrating-business.ghost.io/. But as far as TSS goes I think it is still relevant in both the creative industry and the business world, though I think the bubble has very much burst between bloggers in general and their PR partners in a commercial sense. The water has been muddied somewhat. Despite this,  I have managed to publish regular posts under an array of different categories. More importantly, I very much hope I’m still entertaining and inspiring readers Here’s a few highlights from 2016 Top review was of Portugal’s Hotel Miragem Cascais. Read it here I like ‘things’ and I talk about ‘things’ a lot. I have probably featured more than 365 little things over the course of 2016 if you were to add them up. There’s the jigsaw puzzle reviews of course, but there were also things like paperback books; scented candles; subscription box bits; shiny things; pretty things; practical things; technical things; large things with small components, potatoes (yes potatoes), and …
